Jesús Barrachina, conocidísimo empresario del mundo de la hostelería, ha fallecido esta mañana en su domicilio en Valencia a los 74 años de edad. El empresario valenciano fue durante casi 26 años (entre 1989 y 2014) presidente de la falla Convento Jerusalén-Matemático Marzal, una de las más prestigiosas de Valencia y era la tercera generación de una próspera saga de hosteleros valencianos.
Barrachina, que también fue vicepresidente del Valencia CF, es toda una institución en el mundo de las Fallas. De hecho, fue también presidente de la Federación de Fallas de Especial a finales de los años 90, época en la que surgió el debate sobre el posible cambio de fecha de la cremà. Licenciado en Derecho, fundó la Asociación Nacional de Empresarios de Hostelería y presidente de la Asociación Internacional de Turismo.
Jesús Barrachina gestionó diferentes negocios hosteleros, entre ellos varias cafeterías, la más conocida en la plaza del Ayuntamiento, y el restaurante Alameda Palace, junto a la Piscina de Valencia, que fue uno de los salones de banquetes de referencia los últimos lustros en la ciudad.
Entre las anécdotas protagonizadas como presidente de Convento destaca la acaecida en septiembre de 2012, cuando apareció sin su característico bigote. Barrachina cumplía así la promesa de afeitarse si su nieta, Carmen Tarazona Barrachina, era elegida para la corte infantil de 2013.
