Català ha participado en el acto ‘Cant Valencià al Palau’, en el Palau de la Música, con motivo de la celebración del Dia del Cant Valencià d’Estil, parte de la cultura musical de la Comunitat Valenciana, en el que se han cantado albaes, se han bailado danses valencianes, balls populars y han sonado tabals i dolçaines.
L’Associació d’Estudis del Cant Valencià se fundó en 2008 e integra estudiosos dela etnomusicología y el arte, intérpretes, alumnos y aficionados a la tradición vocal y musical valenciana y tiene como objetivo fomentar la conservación del cant valencià a través del estudio, la investigación, promoció y difusión de las músicas valencianas de tradición oral, así como salvaguardar los materiales, objetos y documentos sonoros vinculados al canto y otras músicas valencianas.
Los Premios ‘Obrint Camins’ reconocen el trabajo de personas y asociaciones que fomentan y promocionan el Cant Valencià como una parte sustancial de la cultura musical tradicional, sus valores culturales, estéticos, históricos, antropológicos, existenciales y lúdicos.
El cant valencià, constituido por el cant d’estil y les albaes es el canto de labradores y artesanos y una de las cuatro tradiciones monódicas expresivas transmitidas oralmente en España, junto al flamenco, la jota aragonesa y la tonada asturiana.
