Las fobias a los ruidos son frecuentes en los animales, tenemos el inconveniente por una parte, de vivir en una comunidad en la que todos los años por estas fechas empezamos con los estruendos de tracas y petardos.En la mayoría de los casos el sonido que provoca el miedo es muy intenso y el perro suele esconderse debajo de la mesa , huir, recabar atención. Es aquí en esa llamada de atención por parte de nuestra mascota, donde debemos de ignorar y no reforzar esa conducta, de lo contrario tenderá a repetirla y generalizarla.
Muchas fobias a los ruidos se pueden tratar con éxito con técnicas de modificación de conducta. El pronóstico es muy variable en función del perro, de la duración de la fobia, de la capacidad para controlar los estímulos durante la exposición y del éxito para controlar el estímulo artificial eficaz que se puede controlar para usarlo durante la exposición controlada.
En el tratamiento, un paso importante sería ejercer un control sobre el perro y ambiente, como esto es imposible, lo ideal sería trabajar estos estímulos fuera de las épocas de fallas, pues no tenemos ese control, y en estas épocas intentar en la medida de lo posible aislar a nuestro perro de esos estímulos dentro de casa.
Prevención :
La mejor manera de prevenir los miedos y fobias es exponer a nuestra mascota al mayor numero posible de estímulos diferentes cuando aún son jóvenes. Cuando tienen una sola semana de edad los cachorros ya deben de ser expuestos a una gran variedad de estímulos diferentes que incluyan tipos diferentes de ruidos , luces , manipulación y movimientos. La habituación durante los periodos sensibles contribuirán a prevenir muchos de los miedos y fobias que podrían aparecer de adultos.
Bajo ningún concepto castigar a un pero con miedo, aumentaría su ansiedad y miedo.
