Los falleros y falleras tuvieron que sortear una nueva prueba de fervor y devoción -y van unas cuantas esta Semana Fallera- para llevar a cabo su objetivo: ofrecer sus flores a la Mare De Déu dels Desamparats, la Patrona de todos los valencianos. Y fue, conforme avanzaba la tarde, en forma de lluvia, tal y como habían previsto los meteorólogos. Las gotas de lluvia que convertían el firme de la plaza de la Virgen en una auténtica pista de patinaje. Pero nada pudo deslucir la Ofrenda de Flores.
No lo consiguió porque el fervor de unas 50.000 personas, integrantes de las comisiones falleras de distintos sectores de la Junta Central Fallera (JCF) desfilaron por la calle de San Vicente y de la Paz para encaminarse a la plaza de la Virgen donde los recibía la majestuosa figura de la Virgen de los Desamparados que, poco a poco, fue tomando forma con su manto de intenso rojo, entre otros colores.
El horario de la primera jornada de la Ofrenda se fue cumpliendo paulatinamente aunque la lluvia y la multitud de espectadores que contemplaron el festejo multicolor provocaron en ocasiones un retraso de hasta media hora en algunos momentos.
Esto no apagó la correcta organización y el discurrir de falleros, pequeños y grandes, y de las falleras quienes con sus casi 25.000 ramos de flores le llevaron a la patrona lo que más quieren, su amor, fervor y devoción.
Las fallas de Ruzafa abrieron la ofrenda por las dos vías
Cosas de la organización en los dos itinerarios de la Ofrenda, Paz y San Vicente, un barrio puso su nombre en lo más alto porque abrió el festejo: el de Ruzafa, el sector A lo hacía por la primera vía y el B por la segunda.
A las 15,30 empezó el acto con falleras desfilando por un centro de la ciudad repleto de visitantes, turistas y vecinos, mientras los vestidores de la gran figura de la Virgen, con esa mirada tan tierna en su cara de madre ¨ dels bons valencians ¨, oraban ante la imagen original de la patrona en la Basílica para pedirle ayuda en la gran composición floral.
Ellos agradecieron al edil de Fiestas y presidente de la Junta Central Fallera (JCF), Francisco Lledó, su ofrecimiento de encabezar el cortejo pero prefirieron seguir con esa discreción que les caracteriza y de dejar el protagonismo a la patrona, con sus falleros a la par que hondos devotos, piensen de una forma u otra.
En el sector de la calle San Vicente desfilaron las fallas de los sectores de Russafa B, Creu Coberta, El Pilar-Sant Francesc, Patraix, Botánic-La Petxina, La Seus-El Mercat, Quart-Xirivella, Jesús, seis de las 13 Casas Regionales participantes, la falla Guardacostas, de la Fallera Mayor Infantil, Carla González y la propia representante infantil, a quien precederá la Bellea del Foc Infantil de Alicante y la Reina Infantil de las Fiestas de la Magdalena de Castellón.

Carla González tenía previsto llegar a la plaza en olor de multitud para recibirla el arzobispo de Valencia, Carlos Osoro, en la Basílica de la Virgen de los Desamparados.
Mañana, lunes 18 de marzo, tendrá lugar el segundo día de Ofrenda con el resto de las comisiones falleras con inicio a las 15.30 horas y finalizará cuando la Fallera Mayor de Valencia, Begoña Jiménez, pase ante la patrona de Valencia tras ser recibida, también, por el prelado.
Un manto bajo el diseño de Marisol Burgos y Josete Santaeulalia
Cuando el manto quede completado será unos 50.000 ramos de flores los que conformen el gran manto cuyos colores mayoritariamente serán rojo y blanco y habrá amarillos de las comisiones falleras que los llevaron en solidaridad con la falla Azcárraga, la de la explosión pirotécnica, cuyo presidente quedó absuelto pero el fallo está recurrido.
