Els miracles de San Vicente Ferrer procesión del altar del Carmen y del Mercat

Más de 200 niños valencianos escenificarán entre el domingo y el lunes ‘els miracles’ de San Vicente Ferrer en los altares levantados para las representaciones, con motivo de la fiesta del patrón de Valencia que se celebra mañana

Valencia celebra el segundo lunes de Pascua la festividad de San Vicente Ferrer, uno de los patronos de la ciudad y reconocido como la mayor fuente de milagros de la Iglesia y uno de los políticos, teólogos, intelectuales y filósofos más influyentes de su época. Durante la semana previa al lunes 24 de abril, la Junta Central Vicentina organiza los actos de fiestas que conmemoran al santo, protagonizados por los famosos altares vicentinos que se encuentran tanto en Valencia como en otros municipios de alrededor.

Uno de los actos más populares de estas fiestas es el concurso anual de Milagros de San Vicente Ferrer, en el que este año más de 200 niños valencianos escenificarán entre este domingo, y el lunes, “els miracles” del patrón en los altares levantados para las representaciones. También son aclamados los actos de la ofrenda conjunta en la jornada matinal del día de San Vicente y la procesión vespertina desde la Catedral de Valencia.

Procesión  general  que desde el Templo Parroquial ha recorrido  el siguiente itinerario: plaza de Carme, calle *Roters, plaza de los Fueros, calle Serranos, plaza Manises, calle Caballeros, plaza Santo Jaume, calle de de Alto, calle Santa Tomeu, plaza del Árbol, calle Pintor Ahijado y plaza de Carme, donde antes de subir la  imagen de SAN VICENTE FERRER al Altar se ha procedido  a la BENDICIÓN del nuevo altar-retablo por parte del Excmo. y Rvdm. Sr. EN ARTUR ROS, Obispo Auxiliar de Valencia, disparándose un castillo de fuegos de artificio y representándose a continuación, el  milacre EL BORDET” de EN SALVADOR SILVESTRE Y LARREA.

Desde los Santos Juanes ha salido la Solemne Procesión que ha recorrido las calles de la demarcación, terminando la misma con la subida de su querido “MORENET DEL MERCAT”.

Por su parte la antigüedad de los altares está perfectamente documentada, lo cual no autoriza, de por sí, a conferir a los milacres pareja edad. En efecto, la documentación actualmente conocida sobre los milacres ofrece sombras que ahuyentar y vacíos que rellenar. Pero en modo alguno podemos situar los orígenes de los milacres a finales del siglo XVIII o principios del siglo XIX, sin incurrir en graves riesgos de error, que, por otra parte, dejarían incompleta la historia de los altares

La aparición de los altares vicentinos se remonta al siglo XV, exactamente a 1461, fecha en que Juan Garrigues levantó el primero en la denominada calle del Mar, de Valencia, según escritura auténtica que copia Orellana

Para los altares la cosa está clara. Según tradición recogida entre otros por Francisco Vidal y Micó14, en 1359 San Vicente Ferrer, niño de nueve años, obró el milagro de curar de unas apostemas malignas en el cuello a Antonio Garrigues, que vivía en la calle del Mar, plazoleta dels Ams (de los Anzuelos), y era vecino del notario Guillem Ferrer, padre de Vicente.

San Vicente Ferrer murió en olor de santidad en 1419 y fue canonizado en 1455. Seis años después de la canonización, o sea en 1461, Juan Garrigues, hijo del miraculado Antonio, quiso exaltar el recuerdo del milagro obrado en su antecesor. Para ello obtuvo autorización para erigir un altar, junto a la esquina y sobre la puerta de su casa.

Este altar consistía en una imagen del Santo, así como en una inscripción que relataba el suceso, para que lo leyera el público. Evidentemente unas sencillas luces completaban el conjunto.

La práctica de levantar altares en honor de San Vicente Ferrer fue extendiéndose a otras calles, no sin protestas por parte de los vecinos de la calle del Mar que consideraban la iniciativa como exclusiva. Y aunque los levantados en honor de San Vicente Ferrer han sido los más célebres y de tradición ininterrumpida, los hubo también ocasionalmente en honor de la Virgen y de otros santos especialmente ligados a Valencia

Este año 14 altares de la ciudad de Valencia y localidades cercanas realizarán representaciones y celebrarán sus actos durante el fin de semana, en la mayoría de los casos, aunque algunos de ellos también días más tarde, según han indicado hoy a la agencia AVAN fuentes de la organización.

 En la actualidad la capital cuenta con varios altares, aunque también existen altares vicentinos en las localidades valencianas de Xirivella, Mislata, Ribarroja, Meliana, La Canyada, Llíria y L´Eliana, entre otras. El altar más antiguo, que data de 1561, se alza en las proximidades de la iglesia del “Pouet” de San Vicente, en la casa natalicia del santo, han añadido las mismas fuentes.

Precisamente, esta semana se está desarrollando también el tradicional concurso de “Miracles” de San Vicente Ferrer, organizado por la Junta Central Vicentina en colaboración con la asociación cultural Lo Rat Penat, el Ayuntamiento de Valencia y la Diputación Provincial, y en el que están tomando parte cerca de 300 niños
