El Museu Valencià d’Etnologia lleva la exposición “Rituals de festa i foc. Fotografies de David Cantillo” a Sumacàrcer mañana miércoles.
La muestra, que fue expuesta este verano en el Museu Valencià d’Etnologia, ofrece un recorrido fotográfico sobre la presencia del fuego en las fiestas valencianas y se expondrá en la Sala de exposiciones del Ayuntamiento de Sumarcàrcer hasta el 21 de febrero.
Las fotografías de David Cantillo retratan manifestaciones festivas de la Comunitat Valenciana con el acento puesto en el papel del fuego. Son aproximaciones en las que se combina la belleza que ofrecen las llamas en el entorno festivo, y el componente más cultural, en el que se muestran cómo los valencianos “jugamos” con el fuego, uno de los cuatro elementos de la cultura occidental. el fuego purifica, exorciza, simboliza el cambio, calibra la valentía del hombre y acompaña a la fiesta.
La exposición mostró en Valencia un centenar de fotografías de grandes fiestas de la Comunitat como las Fallas, Fogueres y la Magdalena y también fiestas de menor impacto social pero de gran interés por la forma en la que se usa el fuego en la fiesta.
Para la muestra en esta localidad de la Ribera Alta se ha seleccionado 50 fotografías de la muestra original centradas en la SAntantonà de El Forcall y la Matxà Vilanova d’Alcolea.
Santantonà de El Forcall
En la Santantonà de El Forcall el fuego simboliza la purificación y la fertilidad a las puertas de la primavera. Los forcallanos giran en torno a una barraca encendida, según la tradición, tres veces. San Antonio es conducido atado a la hoguera y su lucha es patente en la cuerda tensada entre el bien y el mal. Es inevitable atender a la domesticación del fuego hasta el punto de usarlo para representar la muerte misma.
La Matxà de Vilanova d’Alcolea
Como en muchos rituales festivos, en la Matxà de Vilanova d’Alcolea demostrar la valentía –la tuya propia o la de tus animales– es casi indispensable. Los machos espoleados por sus jinetes cruzan las calles envueltos en llamas mientras que la gente los emula. Dos fuegos metafóricos surgen en la noche: la bestia y el hombre.

David Cantillo es un joven fotógrafo valenciano que ha desarrollado su carrera en el ámbito de la fotografía comercial y en numerosos proyectos de carácter temático. Su inquietud fotográfica le ha acercado diferentes temas como el deporte, naturaleza, la poesía, el turismo y la fiesta (el fuego y las fallas) y las artes escénicas y musicales. Ha obtenido diferentes premios y galardones municipios españoles como Girona (Finalista y mejor fotografía en Montphoto. Concurso Internacional de Fotografía de Naturaleza. Lloret de Mar) y finalista en Unicornio (concurso de fotografía de Montilla. Córdoba).
