A pesar de la lluvia, la Geperudeta recorrió las calles del centro histórico de Valencia.
Domingo 8 de mayo, 18:30h. El cielo parece dar una tregua, después de una mañana pasada por agua, para celebrar la Procesión de la Mare de Déu.
Desde la Plaza de la Virgen, encabezada por la Cruz Catedralicia, salieron, en primer lugar, los representantes de las comisiones falleras, a los que siguieron las Falleras Mayores de Valencia, Sofía Soler y Alicia Moreno, acompañadas de sus Cortes de Honor y los representantes de Junta Central Fallera. La lluvia volvió a aparecer, y con ella los primeros paraguas. Aun así, la Procesión continuó.
La lluvia aumentó su intensidad, pero tras un pequeño parón que ocasionó cierta incertidumbre entre el público, empezaron a escucharse las campanadas que anunciaban la salida de la Virgen de la Catedral.
La imagen procesional de la Virgen, que este año cumple 50 años desde que fue tallada por Octavio Vicent, lució el manto, restaurado por el Instituto Valenciano de Conservación y Restauración de Bienes Culturales, que en 1952 los devotos valencianos regalaron a su patrona con motivo del Año Mariano que se celebraría dos años después.
Así, y seguida por el cardenal arzobispo de Valencia, Antonio Cañizares, y su obispo auxiliar, monseñor Esteban Escudero, junto a otros miembros de la Iglesia, la imagen de la Virgen recorrió las calles del centro histórico de Valencia, bajo la atenta mirada del público que, pese a la lluvia, esperó la llegada de su Patrona.
El agua terminó convirtiéndose en pétalos de rosa al paso de la imagen de la Mare de Déu, como es tradicional, dejando una alfombra de pétalos en las calles de Valencia.
