PP y Ciudadanos han criticado los proyectos de las fallas municipales para 2017 y señalan directamente a Compromís y al concejal Pere Fuset, a los que acusan de buscar la provocación.
Amparo Picó, de Ciudadanos, reconoce la profesionalidad de los artistas de ambas fallas, pero cree que sus propuestas son «un huevo sin sal». Considera que levantar una réplica de la torre de telecomunicaciones podría acarrear problemas legales con el arquitecto Santiago Calatrava y lamenta que se haya apostado por unos proyectos que solo gustan a una minoría y que solo buscan la provocación.

Por su parte, Félix Crespo, del grupo popular, habla directamente de fiasco. Asegura que los proyectos no responden a los cánones clásicos de una falla y critica que el referente sea una torre que no existe y en la que nadie se va a reconocer. El concejal va más allá y asegura que la falta de bocetos y de documentación técnica podría vulnerar la ley de contrataciones de la administración.

El concejal Pere Fuset encaja las críticas, pero recuerda que las fallas municipales, por primera vez, no las han elegido los concejales del Ayuntamiento, sino un jurado escogido por instituciones del mundo artístico y académico invitadas al proceso.

Los artistas falleros están convencidos de que todos los autores implicados en las fallas municipales son lo suficientemente solventes y les reconocen la apuesta por un cambio de estética.
Pérez: «La gente ha acogido con buen ánimo la decisión de la falla municipal»
El secretario del gremio de artistas falleros, José Luis Pérez, asegura que la falla es un concepto muy vivo en el que caben muchas interpretaciones, también en estos casos. Está convencido de que las fallas serán un éxito y afirma que así lo cree también el resto de artistas.
